Business 1: Lesson 105

An ad should be used to get the person to act, not to skim through it and throw it away. For example, I’m using the ad I put made on Craigslist. I have a book that I have read multiple times, so I sell it on Craigslist. My ad gives the reader the main benefit, invigorating story for the kids. I then follow with the proof, My whole family read it and liked it, made by a New York Times best seller and popular author, still in good condition, and it only cost 5 dollars. I give them a return address so I can give them a money back guarantee, as long as the book isn’t ruined. I allocated two pictures of the book, one by itself, and the other showing myself rereading it with my brother and sister looking over my shoulders. I finally give them free shipping so all they have to do is buy and pick up the book.

The logic behind my ad is to show that they can try it, and if it doesn’t work, they get their money back. The logic behind my ad is so it can get the right audience, and to give them a good reason to buy it, the good reasons why you should get it, leading with the benefit, and following with the proof. In conclusion, I avoid a slogan, I give credit to the author, I also give them a window to try the book, and give them their money back if it doesn’t work out. Without advertising, we would be stuck going door to door trying to sell the old fashion way.
